Ten Places to See in and Around Orlando, Not Always on the Tourist Path

These are often local agencies that may have an idea of the local culture and atmosphere outside of the big theme parks. Most of these places make for good half a day's outing. Stay for a few days on the beach is fun and allows you to relax.

1. Lake Eola

This is a park in downtown Orlando. It makes for a nice walk and is surrounded by several restaurants and shops. Take a boat trip on the "swans" and you take your children on the playground. Thencan visit a local restaurant in one of the great restaurants that the area surrounded. Only a short walk from the Exclusive Thorton Park area.

2. Leu Gardens

This makes for a great half day trip. If you like the plants and the nature of these offers some beautiful gardens to walk through and see some incredible foliage and plants.

3. Vietnam City

Did you know Orlando has a thriving city in Vietnam, the Down Town Orlando? It is on Highway 50 just east of I4. There aresome good restaurants and authentic Vietnamese cuisine. This is not the whole day, but is a great alternative place for lunch or dinner.

4. Winter Park

Most people who are visiting Orlando love for a day trip to the historic Park Avenue in Winter Park to make. Here you will find a number of beautiful buildings, shops and good restaurants. The area is a popular weekend getaway for locals. If you are a tourist and are looking for an alternative dayThis is a great place to visit.

5. Downtown Celebration

Celebration is create a "community near the Disney Parks ©. It offers a quiet location, a wide variety of shops and restaurants and its own cinema. Most tourists are, as expected, is the development of surprise, and many say it is like the film in the Trueman show set.

6. Windermere

Is perhaps the most chique downtown Orlando area. Boutiques and restaurants abound. You can stroll through the shops for a coffee or lunch in some of the best casualDining at restaurants. Only a short walk to Lake Eola.

8. Old Town in Kissimmee

If you have a family a pleasant place. It's like a permanent amusement park with many restaurants, pubs and shops. It makes for a great afternoon / evening for the whole family and is in a very tourist environment.

9. Orlando Museums - art, science and history

Yes - Orlando has some nice museums, if you are looking for a bit of culture. Google, the frontYou go and check what are the latest exhibits.

10. The Beaches

Okay, so they are not in Orlando, but if you're like white sand of St. Pete Beach just 90 minutes away or our personal favorite on the East Coast Ormond Beach is a sleepy area north of Daytona. We prefer to Ormond, as are generally less tourists and you can reach it in about 50 minutes from downtown Orlando.

Things to Do in Orlando - That Are Not Theme Parks

They have not only think Disney when you think of things to do in Orlando. A short trip up the I4 Highway from Disney, Universal, Sea World and all the other attractions is Seminole County. In Seminole County you get everything you in Orlando, but at a lower price and with much less traffic. They even have the same hotels you get in the Orlando area here but at a fraction of the price.

Here are some things to do in Orlando without actually in Orlando.

You can take a cruise down one of the many rivers in Seminole County, St. Johns River is located here, and it is the longest river in Florida. You can walk or ride a bike in the desert trails and observe some birds, study of the natural fauna or just a few photos.

There are more than thirty state parks and preserves for you to explore. Most have wooden bridges take you over wetlands and near natural springs, so you can see a small part of this ancient siteFlorida, and perhaps only a glimpse of an alligator or turtle sunning themselves. If you want more of the wetlands, you can canoe or kayak rental and take a trip into the wilderness on your own to see.

While you visit, you have to see Park, Big Tree "features the senator" a Bald Cypress, over 3500 years old and Wekiwa (Pronounced Wik-I is Va) Springs State Park and rent a canoe explore this abundant natural spring.

If nature is not your thing SeminoleCounty provides "other things to do in Orlando. It has more than twelve 18-hole golf courses for you, or you can take a stroll through the historic areas of Sanford and Longwood. A walk through one of these small towns have you an idea of how life here a century ago.

You will see little antique shops, Victorian homes and cultural museums. You will find the story in a completely renovated vaudeville theater, the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center, where you are for a stopMinutes to catch a game or other show. There are many public galleries are available for your enjoyment and Seminole County also has "public art displays of local artists in public buildings.

Seminole County offers some of the newest hotels and other accommodations in Central Florida with the best part, you will pay up to one third of what you'd be paying to stay closer to Disney and other attractions and you're still only a short drive from downtown Orlando. Sowhen you think of things to remember to do in Orlando, Central Florida, is more than just Orlando.
